In addition to offering a rich and varied curriculum, Mill Field offers numerous extra-curricular activities to further enhance the experiences of children. These clubs, which are mostly run by staff, give children the opportunity to develop their confidence in a number of areas. Throughout the year, there are also opportunities to work with specialists from outside the school, for example, in rugby and dance. Some of the regular clubs are listed below.

Mill Field is extremely proud of the musical activities on offer. Our school choir, which includes children from both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, offers children the chance to develop their knowledge of key musical elements in an enjoyable and fun environment. The children also have the opportunity to perform in several concerts each year, both within school and beyond. The school also offers a recorder club for children in lower Key Stage 2. During lesson time, children in Key Stage 2 also learn a range of musical instruments including trumpets and ukuleles.

Mill Field currently has computer clubs running both at lunch time and after school. During these sessions, children are able to access all of our computer based curriculum resources and are offered support with completing computer based tasks and homework. Children are also able to access the school’s VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), where they can use relevant educational links and participate in discussions, whilst following our E-Safety rules. In addition to this, children are assisted in developing their ICT skills in a variety of contexts and using various pieces of software.

Mill Field runs various after school sports clubs throughout the year, allowing children from both Key Stages to participate in fun activities that will help keep them fit and healthy. We are also extremely lucky to benefit from outside training periodically in both sports and dance. During the last year, we have also had the opportunity to take children to matches involving Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos. We are also having a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) built to ensure a variety of sports can be undertaken, in all most weather conditions.

We currently offer a lunch time box club where children are able to use their imagination to create objects and role play using these. This club allows children to develop their independence and confidence in selecting resources. Children can also join our Art Club where children are able to engage in fun and creative activities whilst learning a variety of techniques using different materials.
